I’ve always been fascinated with mosaics!
As an art form, mosaic has been practiced all over the world for thousands of years. I wanted to continue this ancient tradition with modern materials, bright colors, and a style twist all my own.
When I began my creative journey in mosaic over a decade ago, I didn't have many tools or special skills in sculpture. I relied on my vision and a desire to learn. I worked to improve every piece I made until I got the results I wanted. My curiosity and passion to improve guided me through the early phases of my work. With experimentation, practice and consistant refinement, I was able to grow my skills and my collection. "The first piece I made was a red fox. I really enjoyed making local wildlife. I keep that fox on display in my studio as a reminder of how far I've come." As my work developed, I began to get requests for orders. My hobby evolved into a business.
I love polymer clay it because I can mix the colors and make textures that imitate a wide variety of other art mediums such as stone, wood, metal. My subtle color variations and mixture of textures define my style.
When I'm not doing commissioned work, I portray what inspires me. I like nature, animals and plants mostly. I believe that if I feel a connection to something, others will too.
I’m influenced by fine art, architecture, geometry, history, color and symmetry.
You’ll definitely see those influences in my collections:)
One of the most common questions I get is, “Where do you get your designs?”
And the answer is, “I create each one myself. In my shop, you'll find one-of-a-kind designs you won't find anywhere else. I think that's pretty exciting!"
